A stray dog with an wonderful basketball playing ability and A young boy become friends. Rebounding from the accidental death of his father Josh Framm moves to the small town of Fernfield, Washington his family. The newest kid in the city does not have any friends and is too shy to try for the college basketball team. He prefers to clinic alone on an court, he befriends a golden retriever. When he realizes that Buddy loves basketball josh is amazed. . .that and basketball are playing. . .and he is GOOD! Josh eventually makes Buddy and the faculty group is known as the group Mascot. Buddy and josh become the celebrities of halftime. Buddy's half time talent attracts media focus. When the me an former proprietor Norm Snively of Buddy, comes along with a plot to cash in on the puppy's star, it appears like they're likely to be split.
