Hearts and Minds
Often times throughout his presidency, Lyndon B. Johnson reported that ultimate success in the Vietnam War relied upon the U.S. military winning the"hearts and minds" of the Vietnamese individuals. Film maker Peter Davis uses Johnson's phrase in an ironic context within this Anti War documentary, filmed and published while the Vietnam War was still under way, juxtaposing interviews using military figures including U.S. Army Chief of Staff William C. Westmoreland with shocking scenes of violence and brutality.
