Laughing Under the Clouds

At the center of a huge lake, an inescapable prison, the Gokumonjou, has been established At the dawn of the Meiji period to counter the soaring crime rates the new era has attracted. Serving as the ferrymen are the Kumou brothers: Tenka, the family mind. The next son that is noble although reckless, Soramaru. Chuutarou, and the guileless youngest. The three lead relatively calm resides in Oumi's ever-cloudy town, Shirasu Kinjou, together with their housekeeper. But buried at the long history of Oumi could be the legend of this frightful"Orochi," that a serpentine beast that awakens every three hundred years at a human boat. Unbeknownst to Chuutarou and Soramaru, before it fully revives the true occupation of this Kumou family is to guard the Orochi off --and also the world is likely to be plunged into destruction. Amid the monster's next revival, the Kumou family has to find the resolve.
