Solarbabies

In a future in we find a group of kids, mostly teenagers, that are currently living at an orphanage, run by the despotic rulers of their Earth that is new. The group in question and with a baseball established game play and is quite excellent. It's given them a unity that transcends the attempts to bring them by the us government to heel. Obtaining an orb of power that is unique, they find it has unusual effects on them. They escape out of the orphanage (on skates) and attempt to cross the wasteland looking for a place they can live free whilst the storm troopers seek out them and also the orb.
