The Romantic Englishwoman

What is real and what is fiction? Faced with his book with writer's block, Lewis Fielding turns to some film script of a woman finding herself from baden-baden. She did find herself there but had a brief encounter in a elevator with a German who says he's a poet. The German is at England, gets himself invited to tea at which he asserts he admires the novels of Fielding. Which one does he like the best? "Tom Jones." Amused in being confused with all all the Fielding, the novelist turns the German into the scheme.
