Porridge
Porridge is really a British situation comedy broadcast on BBC1 in 1974 to 1977, running for some series, two Christmas specials and a feature film. Compiled by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, it stars Ronnie Barker and Richard Beckinsale as two inmates at the fictional HMP Slade in Cumberland. "Doing porridge" is British slang for serving a prison sentence, P Orridge once function as traditional break fast in UK prisons.
The show had been followed with a 1978 sequel, Moving Straight, which established that Fletcher wouldn't be moving straight back to prison. Porridge has been voted number seven of the 100 greatest British sitcoms in a 2004 BBC poll.
