The Beverly Hillbillies is an American situation comedy originally Aired for nine seasons on CBS from 1962 to 1971, starring Buddy Ebsen, Irene Ryan, Donna Douglas, and Max Baer, Jr..
The series is all about a poor backwoods family transplanted to Beverly Hills after oil onto his or her property. Even a Filmways production created by writer Paul Henning, it's the very first in a genre of"fish out of water" themed tv shows, and has been followed with additional Henning-inspired country-cousin series on CBS. Back in 1963, Henning introduced Petticoat Junction, and he switched the rags to wealth model for Green Acres. The series paved the way for after programs such as McCloud The Jeffersons, The Nanny, The Prince of Belair, and Doc. Panned by most entertainment critics of its time, it immediately became a ratings success for the majority of its own operate on CBS.
The Beverly Hillbillies ranked one of the top twenty programs on television with a number, for eight of its nine seasons, double standing as the number 1 set of the year.
The ongoing popularity of the series spawned a 1993 film movie by 20th Century Fox.
