Pressure

A coming-of-age narrative about five teens growing up in 1980's Harlem, New York. It is the start of a new generation of children known as the "hip hop" generation, which grew up alongside the "crack cocaine" generation. Karon falls into a profound slumber following his 1985 graduation. Having dreams within dreams transports him to a realistic play about his possible future as a drug-dealing adolescent in the 1990's. His quick money attitude is detrimental to the community, and eventually, his closest friends become collateral damage in the crossfire of his criminal activity. He regains consciousness in1985, realizing that the "easier way out" promised was not a magnificent new beginning, but the conclusion.
