Salute Your Shorts
Salute Your Shorts is a Nickelodeon comedy sitcom that ran from 1991 to 1992 and was rebroadcast until early 1999. Salute Your Shorts: Life at Summer Camp by Steve Slavkin, published in 1986, was the inspiration for the film. The series was set at the summer camp Camp Anawant to, which was filmed at Franklin Canyon Park and the Griffith Park Boys Camp within Griffith Park in Los Angeles. It centers on a group of adolescent campers, their harsh and overbearing counselor, and the various capers and shenanigans they get up to. The title is inspired by a frequent camper prank: a group of kids snatches a boy's boxer shorts and raises them up a flagpole. As a result, when other youngsters see them waving like a flag, they salute them as part of the prank.
